Lemongrass is one of those herbs that needs no introduction and no convincing. Bright, clean, unmistakably citrusy — it is the scent of Thai kitchens and Southeast Asian markets, of herbal teas that taste like sunshine, of the kind of herb that makes people stop and ask what that smell is. Native to tropical Asia and cultivated across the world for both culinary and medicinal use, lemongrass has been a staple of traditional medicine in India, Southeast Asia, and Latin America for centuries. In Ayurveda it is a classic digestive and fever herb. In Brazilian folk medicine it is one of the most widely used calming teas. And in kitchens from Bangkok to São Paulo, it is simply indispensable. An herb that crosses every boundary between food and medicine with effortless grace.

Our lemongrass is organic cut and sifted — the aromatic leaves and stalks of Cymbopogon citratus, carefully dried to preserve its essential oils, citral, and flavonoids. Bright, clean, and intensely lemony with a fresh grassy depth that is entirely its own. Certified organic and packed to order in small batches.

A note on preparation: lemongrass makes one of the most naturally pleasant and approachable herbal teas available — bright, citrusy, and naturally caffeine-free. It blends beautifully with virtually everything and is an excellent base for custom tea blends.

Traditionally Used to Support

  • Digestive comfort and wellness — lemongrass's most celebrated traditional use across Southeast Asian and Ayurvedic traditions; traditionally used to support healthy digestion, ease bloating and digestive discomfort, and promote overall digestive calm; a classic post-meal digestive tea throughout tropical Asia
  • Nervous system calm and stress support — traditionally used as a gentle nervine herb in Brazilian and Southeast Asian folk medicine; one of the most widely consumed calming teas in Brazil, where it is known as "capim-limão" and used daily for stress and anxiety support
  • Healthy inflammatory response — rich in citral and flavonoids; traditionally used to support the body's healthy inflammatory response; a classic herb in Ayurvedic formulas for fever and systemic inflammation support
  • Antimicrobial and immune support — traditionally used in Southeast Asian and Ayurvedic medicine to support the body's natural defenses; the essential oils of lemongrass have a long history of use in traditional medicine for immune and antimicrobial support
  • Mood and mental clarity support — the bright citrus aroma of lemongrass has long been used in aromatherapy and herbal traditions to support mood, mental clarity, and overall emotional wellness; a classic uplifting herb in the tropical herbal tradition

How to Use

As a tea (most common): Steep 1–2 teaspoons of cut and sifted lemongrass in 8 oz of just-boiled water for 10–15 minutes, covered. Strain and enjoy. Bright, citrusy, and naturally sweet — one of the most pleasant herbal teas available. Delicious hot or iced.

As a decoction: Simmer 2 teaspoons of lemongrass in 8–10 oz of water for 10–15 minutes for a stronger preparation. Pairs beautifully with ginger and honey for a classic Southeast Asian-style warming digestive tea.

Culinary use: Add cut and sifted lemongrass directly to soups, curries, and broths during cooking and remove before serving, or grind for use as a culinary spice. A staple of Thai, Vietnamese, and Indonesian cooking.

Blending: Pairs beautifully with ginger and tulsi for a bright digestive blend, peppermint and spearmint for a refreshing cooling tea, or chamomile and lemon balm for a calming evening blend.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Properly stored, cut and sifted lemongrass retains its potency and aroma for 1–2 years.
