Red raspberry leaf is one of the great unsung herbs of the apothecary. Not the berry — the leaf, which has been used by women across cultures for centuries as a nourishing tonic, a uterine strengthener, and a gentle ally through every stage of the reproductive cycle. It tastes remarkably like a mild black tea, which makes it one of the most approachable medicinal herbs for daily use — and one of the easiest to build a consistent habit around.

Our raspberry leaf is certified organic, tea cut, and harvested at peak nutritional density. Mild, slightly astringent, and pleasantly earthy — with a clean, tea-like quality that blends beautifully or stands alone. Rubus idaeus, the true red raspberry, not a substitute species. Rich in tannins, fragarine, and an impressive array of vitamins and minerals.

Traditionally Used to Support

  • Uterine tone & reproductive wellness — raspberry leaf's most celebrated traditional use; fragarine, a unique alkaloid found in raspberry leaf, is traditionally used to tone and strengthen uterine muscle; used by midwives and herbalists for centuries as a uterine tonic
  • Menstrual support — traditionally used to ease cramping, support healthy cycle regularity, and reduce excessive menstrual flow; one of the most widely used herbs for menstrual wellness in European and North American herbalism
  • Pregnancy preparation & support — one of the most traditionally used herbs in the third trimester to tone the uterus in preparation for labor; consult your midwife or OB before use during pregnancy
  • Nutrient-dense tonic — exceptionally rich in magnesium, potassium, iron, calcium, and vitamins C, E, and B complex; one of the most nutritionally dense herbs available for daily tonic use
  • Digestive support — the tannin content makes raspberry leaf a gentle astringent for the digestive tract; traditionally used to ease mild diarrhea and soothe irritated digestive tissue
  • Immune support — high vitamin C content and antioxidant flavonoids support overall immune resilience

How to Use

As a tea: Steep 1–2 teaspoons of tea cut raspberry leaf in 8–10 oz of just-boiled water for 10–15 minutes, covered. Mild, slightly astringent, and pleasantly tea-like — one of the most drinkable medicinal herbs. Naturally caffeine-free. Excellent as a daily tonic tea, hot or iced. Pairs beautifully with red clover, nettle, and oat straw for a classic women's nourishing blend.

Nourishing herbal infusion: For maximum mineral and nutrient extraction, steep 1 oz of dried raspberry leaf in 1 quart of just-boiled water for 4–8 hours, covered. Strain and drink throughout the day. This is the method favored by herbalist Susun Weed for deep nutritive support.

Blending: Raspberry leaf is one of the great blending herbs — mild enough to use as a base in virtually any women's wellness blend. Pairs especially well with red clover, nettle, chamomile, lemon balm, and rose petals.

Tincture: Macerate in high-proof alcohol for 4–6 weeks. Useful in menstrual support and women's tonic formulas.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Properly stored, dried raspberry leaf retains its potency for 1–2 years.
