There is a reason Tulsi has been called the Queen of Herbs in Ayurvedic tradition for over three thousand years. In a system that has catalogued thousands of medicinal plants, Holy Basil holds a place of singular reverence — grown in temple courtyards, used in daily ritual, and regarded as one of the most complete and balancing herbs in existence. It is an adaptogen, a nervine, a respiratory herb, an immune tonic, and a digestive herb all at once. It is also, simply, one of the most beautiful-tasting herbs you will ever brew. Clove-like, slightly peppery, warmly aromatic — with a complexity that makes it as satisfying as a cup of tea as it is effective as a medicinal herb.

Our Tulsi is certified organic, finely cut and granulated — a form that brews quickly, blends seamlessly, and delivers the full aromatic depth of Ocimum tenuiflorum in every cup. Carefully sourced and small-batch packaged to preserve the volatile oils that give Holy Basil its characteristic warmth and complexity. Ocimum tenuiflorum — the Queen of Herbs, and one of the most versatile plants in the apothecary.

Traditionally Used to Support

  • Stress & adaptogenic support — Tulsi’s most celebrated use in Ayurvedic medicine; a true adaptogen, used for centuries to help the body respond to physical, mental, and emotional stress; supports resilience, balance, and a sense of calm ease without sedation
  • Cortisol & adrenal support — traditionally used to support healthy stress hormone balance; a foundational herb in Ayurvedic protocols for burnout, adrenal fatigue, and chronic stress; pairs beautifully with ashwagandha and licorice root
  • Immune support — a classic Ayurvedic immune tonic; rich in antioxidants and traditionally used to support the body’s natural defenses, particularly during seasonal transitions
  • Respiratory wellness — used in Ayurvedic and folk medicine traditions to support clear, healthy breathing; a warming, aromatic herb traditionally used for congestion, seasonal respiratory challenges, and lung support
  • Mental clarity & focus — traditionally used to support alertness, concentration, and calm mental energy; an ideal herb for stress-related brain fog and mental fatigue; energizing without being stimulating
  • Digestive support — a classic carminative in Ayurvedic medicine; traditionally used to ease bloating, gas, and nervous digestion; particularly useful when digestive upset is tied to stress

How to Use

As a tea: Steep 1–2 teaspoons of finely cut Tulsi in 8 oz of just-boiled water for 5–7 minutes, covered. Warmly aromatic, clove-like, and slightly peppery — with a natural sweetness and complexity that makes it one of the most satisfying herbal teas available. Naturally caffeine-free. Delicious on its own or with a touch of honey and lemon.

Daily adaptogen ritual: Brew a cup each morning as a grounding, stress-supportive ritual. Tulsi’s adaptogenic properties build over time with consistent daily use — 8–12 weeks of regular use is where the real benefits emerge.

Blending: Tulsi pairs beautifully with almost everything — ashwagandha and licorice root for a deep stress support blend, peppermint and lemon balm for a calm focus tea, ginger and cinnamon for a warming immune blend, or rose petals for a heart-opening, aromatic daily tea.

Culinary: Use in herbal syrups, lemonades, and cocktails. Tulsi simple syrup is extraordinary — warmly spiced, floral, and complex. Also beautiful in savory preparations as a more aromatic alternative to sweet basil.

Tincture: Macerate in high-proof alcohol for 4–6 weeks for a concentrated adaptogenic preparation. A classic Ayurvedic-inspired tincture for stress and immune support.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Properly stored, finely cut Tulsi retains its aromatic oils and adaptogenic properties for 1–2 years.
