Inflammation doesn't just burn — it stagnates. It pools in the lymph, thickens in the blood, settles into the connective tissue, and quietly undermines the systems that are supposed to keep everything moving. Flow & Flame is formulated for exactly that pattern: the slow burn that doesn't announce itself until something stops working.

This is a botanical blend for lymphatic flow, venous support, and metabolic calm — eight time-honored herbs addressing four interconnected pathways simultaneously. Lymphatic drainage. Venous tone. Metabolic inflammation. Liver-metabolic bridging. Every herb earns its place. Nothing redundant.

The Blend

  • Cleavers (Galium aparine) — The lead lymphatic herb in Western herbalism. Traditionally used to support lymphatic drainage, reduce tissue congestion, and support the body's natural cleansing pathways. The lymphatic anchor of this formula.
  • Gotu Kola (Centella asiatica) — Traditionally used to support venous integrity, connective tissue health, and healthy microcirculation. One of the most respected herbs in both Ayurvedic and Western herbalism for vascular and lymphatic support.
  • Red Clover Blossom (Trifolium pratense) — Traditionally used to support lymphatic wellness, healthy blood, and the body's natural cleansing processes. Contains phytoestrogens that may support hormonal balance — a natural fit for the PCOS downstream picture.
  • Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica) — Mineral-rich and deeply nourishing; traditionally used to support healthy circulation, elimination, and overall systemic vitality. Supports both the lymphatic and metabolic inflammation pathways simultaneously.
  • Turmeric Root (Curcuma longa) — Traditionally used to support metabolic balance and healthy inflammatory response. Add a fat source — coconut milk or ghee — to your cup for best absorption of turmeric's fat-soluble compounds.
  • Calendula (Calendula officinalis) — A gentle lymphatic and anti-inflammatory herb traditionally used to support the body's natural cleansing and elimination pathways. Adds a soft, pleasant floral note to the blend.
  • Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale) — Warming and invigorating; traditionally used to support circulation, enhance absorption of the other herbs in this blend, and add a pleasant warming depth to the cup.
  • Dandelion Root (Taraxacum officinale) — A liver-metabolic bridge herb and gentle diuretic traditionally used to support liver function, healthy bile flow, and the body's natural elimination pathways. Connects the metabolic and lymphatic layers of this formula.

Four Pathways

Flow & Flame works through four distinct mechanisms simultaneously:

  • Lymphatic Drainage — Cleavers, Calendula, Red Clover Blossom
  • Venous Tone & Circulation — Gotu Kola, Ginger Root
  • Metabolic Inflammation — Turmeric Root, Nettle Leaf, Red Clover Blossom
  • Liver/Metabolic Bridge — Dandelion Root

Flavor Profile

Warming and earthy with a bright ginger heat, subtle turmeric depth, and a gentle floral softness from calendula and red clover. Grounding and purposeful. Add coconut milk for a golden-milk style preparation that also enhances turmeric absorption.

How to Brew

Decoction Method (recommended): Add 1–2 tsp to 8 oz cold water in a small saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and simmer 10 minutes. Remove from heat, steep covered 12–15 minutes. Strain and enjoy. Add a fat source — coconut milk or ghee — for best turmeric absorption.

The simmer extracts the roots (turmeric, ginger, dandelion); the off-heat steep protects the delicate aerial herbs (cleavers, calendula, red clover). Both phases matter.

Cold Steep: Mostly compatible — the leaf and flower herbs (cleavers, red clover, calendula, nettle) extract beautifully cold. The roots (turmeric, ginger, dandelion) extract better with heat, so cold steeping will give slightly reduced potency from those herbs. Steep 8–12 hours in the fridge.

Drink 1–2 cups daily, ideally mid-day — the lymphatic system is most active during the day and movement supports drainage. Yield: ~10–12 cups per ounce. Caffeine-free. All organic. Small-batch blended by Bald Hill Botanicals & Apothecary.

The PCOS Wellness Trio

Flow & Flame addresses the downstream metabolic and lymphatic layer of the PCOS wellness picture. It pairs naturally with:

  • Cycle & Restore — upstream hormonal root cause layer (morning)
  • Thistle & Root — liver detox layer (afternoon)
  • Flow & Flame — downstream lymphatic and metabolic layer (evening)

Together they form a comprehensive three-layer approach to metabolic and hormonal wellness support.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does lymphatic support tea do?
The lymphatic system is the body's drainage network — responsible for removing metabolic waste, excess fluid, and immune byproducts from the tissues. Traditional herbalism has long used specific botanicals called lymphagogues to support healthy lymphatic movement. Flow & Flame combines cleavers, red clover, and calendula with circulatory and metabolic tonics to support lymphatic flow from multiple angles simultaneously.

What is venous support and why does it matter?
Venous tone refers to the health and integrity of the veins — their ability to efficiently return blood to the heart. Gotu kola is the most celebrated herb in Western and Ayurvedic herbalism for supporting venous integrity and connective tissue health, and is the venous anchor of this formula.

Can herbal tea support metabolic wellness?
Traditional herbalism has long used adaptogenic and liver-supportive herbs to support the body's metabolic balance — the complex interplay of blood sugar regulation, inflammatory response, and liver function. Turmeric, dandelion root, and ginger address metabolic balance from multiple traditional angles in this formula.

Why add coconut milk or ghee to this tea?
Turmeric's most active compounds are fat-soluble — meaning they are significantly better absorbed in the presence of dietary fat. Adding a small amount of coconut milk or ghee to your cup dramatically improves the bioavailability of turmeric's traditional benefits.

How does Flow & Flame fit with the PCOS wellness approach?
Flow & Flame addresses the downstream metabolic and lymphatic layer of the PCOS wellness picture — the systemic congestion and metabolic imbalance that often accompany hormonal dysregulation. It pairs naturally with Cycle & Restore (hormonal root cause) and Thistle & Root (liver detox) as part of a comprehensive three-layer approach.
