Peppermint is the herb that needs no convincing. Almost everyone already loves it — the clean, bright, intensely cooling rush of real menthol, the way it clears your head and settles your stomach in the same breath. But most people have only ever experienced peppermint as a flavoring — in gum, in candy, in toothpaste. Real whole leaf organic peppermint, properly dried and brewed, is in a different category entirely. Bright, complex, genuinely cooling, with a depth of flavor that no extract or flavoring can replicate. It is one of the great everyday herbs, and one of the most versatile in the apothecary.

Our peppermint is certified organic, tea cut, with that characteristic vibrant green leaf and the intensely fresh, cooling menthol aroma that hits you the moment you open the bag. Carefully harvested at peak oil content and dried at low temperatures to preserve the volatile oils that make peppermint so effective. Mentha piperita — the most aromatic and medicinally active of the mint family.

Traditionally Used to Support

  • Digestive ease — peppermint's most celebrated medicinal use; menthol relaxes smooth muscle in the digestive tract, easing bloating, gas, cramping, and nausea; one of the most well-studied herbs for digestive comfort; a classic after-meal tea across European and Asian traditions
  • Headache & tension relief — traditionally used to ease tension headaches and mental fatigue; menthol's cooling action supports circulation and eases head tension; a classic folk remedy across multiple traditions
  • Respiratory support — menthol is a natural decongestant; peppermint tea and steam inhalation have been used in European folk medicine for centuries to open airways, ease congestion, and support clear, easy breathing
  • Focus & mental clarity — peppermint's invigorating aroma and mild stimulating properties have been used traditionally to support alertness, concentration, and mental energy without caffeine
  • Nausea support — a classic remedy for nausea, motion sickness, and morning sickness; gentle enough for most people and genuinely effective; a staple in traditional European and American folk medicine

How to Use

As a tea: Steep 1–2 teaspoons of tea cut peppermint in 8 oz of just-boiled water for 5–7 minutes, covered. Bright, intensely minty, and deeply refreshing — with a natural cooling finish that lingers beautifully. Naturally caffeine-free. Equally delicious hot or iced. A perfect everyday tea and a genuinely soothing after-dinner ritual.

Digestive tea: Brew a strong cup after meals to ease bloating and support digestion. Combine with fennel seed and ginger for a classic digestive support blend. One of the most effective and pleasant herbal digestive remedies available.

Iced peppermint tea: Brew double strength, pour over ice, and add a squeeze of lemon. One of the most refreshing summer drinks imaginable — and genuinely good for you.

Steam inhalation: Add a generous handful to a bowl of just-boiled water and inhale the menthol-rich steam for 5–10 minutes. Deeply clearing for congestion and sinus pressure.

Blending: Peppermint pairs beautifully with almost everything — chamomile for a classic relaxation blend, lemon balm for a calm focus tea, spearmint for a gentler mint blend, or licorice root for a naturally sweet digestive formula.

Culinary: Use in herbal syrups, lemonades, cocktails, desserts, and savory preparations. Peppermint simple syrup is one of the most versatile and crowd-pleasing culinary preparations you can make from dried herbs.

Storage

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Properly stored, tea cut peppermint retains its menthol content and vibrant flavor for 1–2 years.
