🌿 For the questions that lead to another reference book

Meet Curiosity Botanicals: 25 individually labeled botanicals for the person who sees an unfamiliar plant name and immediately wants to know more. Roots, barks, leaves, flowers, and even a lichen, gathered into a compact collection for thoughtful botanical study.

This is the read-before-you-use corner of The Apothecary Shelf, not a casual tea sampler. Some botanicals have significant cautions, and getting to know them does not mean you need to consume them. Curiosity can begin with a label, a closer look, and a good reference book. My shelves suggest I've taken that advice rather enthusiastically.

Part of The Apothecary Shelf: curated botanical collections featuring organically grown, wildcrafted, and thoughtfully sourced materials.

📚 Why these botanicals belong together

Curiosity brings together less-familiar and preparation-specific materials that invite a deeper look at traditional herbal practice. Compare roots such as gentian and elecampane, barks such as white oak and white willow, flowers such as hops, and the distinctive structure of usnea lichen.

They belong together as a study collection, not as ingredients for one blend. Their traditional roles, preparation methods, and cautions differ considerably. This collection is best suited to adults prepared to research individual materials and seek qualified guidance before use.

📦 Here's exactly what you're getting

One Curiosity Botanicals collection: 25 individually labeled botanical pouches in your chosen fill size, a collection-specific reference pamphlet, and 25 empty disposable tea filter bags.

These are separate botanicals, not a premixed tea. You're purchasing this one 25-botanical collection, not all four collections or the complete 100-material shelf. Botanicals come in pouches, not jars. Filter bags are included accessories, not part of the 25-botanical count.

🫖 A tool, not permission to brew everything

The 25 empty disposable tea filter bags are for botanicals suited to bagged infusions after individual suitability and preparation have been checked. Their inclusion does not mean every pouch is suitable for tea, internal use, or a bath. Do not use pouch quantity as a dose or combine the collection into one preparation.

🎁 A little box of botanical curiosity

Your collection arrives tucked into a black cardboard gift box with botanical-print tissue, individually labeled pouches, your reference pamphlet, and the empty tea filter bags. The gift box is packed inside a separate shipping box for protection during transit. A thoughtful addition to a well-read botanical enthusiast's shelf.

📖 We aren't sending you home with 25 bags and a “good luck!”

Your included reference pamphlet lists the botanicals alphabetically, with traditional-use notes, preparation guidance, and herb-specific cautions. It's a starting point for understanding what's in each pouch, not an invitation to skip further research.

The pamphlet is educational, not personalized medical advice or a complete safety reference. Review each botanical with a qualified healthcare provider before use.

🥄 Small introduction or a little more room to explore?

Both sizes contain the same 25 botanicals. The difference is how much you receive in each pouch.

  • Sampler Size: Approximately 2–3 teaspoons of each botanical. Smaller quantities for getting acquainted with the collection.
  • Blending Size: Approximately 5–6 teaspoons of each botanical. Larger quantities for study and appropriate preparation; the size name is not a recommendation to blend or consume every ingredient.

These approximate volumes are based on teaspoon-measured fills. Amounts vary with botanical texture and how loosely the spoon is filled. These are package quantities, not serving sizes, safe-use amounts, or preparation doses.

Fluffy materials weigh less by volume than dense roots and barks, so the pouches won't all have the same gram weight. Neither size promises a uniform quarter-ounce or half-ounce portion of every botanical. Photos marked Sampler Size show that size, not Blending Size.

💬 A few things you might be wondering

Can I buy the whole Apothecary Shelf?

Yes! Our Complete 100-Material Collection brings together Everyday, Blend & Brew, Specialty, and Curiosity Botanicals in one purchase. Choose Sampler Size or Blending Size for the complete shelf. It also includes 100 empty disposable tea filter bags.

Can I purchase an individual botanical?

Yes! You can purchase individual botanicals in ½-ounce packages right here in our store. Browse our single-herb selection to refill a favorite or explore one botanical at a time. These collections are sold as complete 25-material assortments; their individual component pouches aren't sold separately.

Does this make a good gift?

Absolutely, for an adult botanical enthusiast who enjoys research and understands that unfamiliar herbs need individual consideration. The gift box, labeled pouches, and reference pamphlet make it thoughtfully put together. This is not a children's activity set or an all-purpose beginner tea kit. Consider the recipient's allergies, medications, and suitability before gifting.

Can I use all of these in tea or a foot soak?

No. Neither internal nor external use is automatically appropriate. Topical preparations can also cause irritation or other adverse effects. Check each botanical's intended use, preparation requirements, and cautions; this collection does not include a blanket tea or foot-soak recipe.

🏡 Keeping your shelf happy

Keep pouches tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the collection and its individual pouches out of reach of children.

⚠️ Read before use

This collection contains higher-caution botanicals. Do not assume a small pouch makes a botanical safe. Do not use during pregnancy or nursing without qualified professional guidance; motherwort, wormwood, hyssop, and other included materials have particular pregnancy-related concerns.

St. John's Wort interacts with many medications, including hormonal contraceptives and antidepressants; obtain professional guidance before use. Lobelia can be toxic and is not appropriate for self-directed internal use. Wormwood and hyssop require particular caution with seizure disorders; do not use concentrated essential oils as substitutes for the supplied herbs. Usnea has serious liver-safety concerns with internal preparations; do not undertake self-directed internal use.

White willow and meadowsweet require caution with aspirin or salicylate allergy and blood-thinning medications. California poppy and hops may cause drowsiness and interact with sedating substances. Gymnema may affect blood glucose and interact with diabetes medications. Uva ursi is not a routine daily-use herb and requires qualified guidance. Do not put homemade eyebright preparations into the eyes.

This information is for educational purposes only. Do not use as a substitute for professional medical advice. As with all herbal teas, blends, and botanical products, consult your qualified healthcare provider before use. This is especially important if you are pregnant, nursing, taking any prescription or over-the-counter medications, or have any existing health condition. Keep out of reach of children. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

These notes are not a complete list of botanical-specific cautions. Review each ingredient's preparation requirements and cautions before use.
